Jeremy Corbyn to appear on Glastonbury's Pyramid stage introducing rap duo

Labour leader and sometime grime hero Jeremy Corbyn is set to make an appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

He was scheduled to appear at last year's event before cancelling due to the Brexit vote, but is likely to receive a great reception following his successful election campaign which lead to Labour winning more seats, 262 in total, than expected.

Mr Eavis told The Guardian: 'We're Corbyn fans, that's the thing.

Last year, Corbyn was confirmed for a talk at the Worthy Farm festival, in which he was supposed to speak in opposition to the government's Trident initiative.

He added: "He's got something new and precious, and people are excited about it". Eavis is a Corbyn supporter whose political views align with the Labour leader's on issues ranging from nuclear disarmament to anti-austerity. Shadow chancellor John McDonnell and former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis will also be in attendance. At a recent concert at London's Field Day festival, the MC threw his support behind Corbyn and encouraged the crowd to vote Labour.

'It's ridiculous; it's so absurd. Corbyn is on the same page with me on that one. He's going to fight it out, I think'.

Michael Eavis' daughter, Emily - who organises a large part of the festival - also welcomed Corbyn to the festival.

"It's been a really full-on few years, culminating in Brexit and Trump".
