Cosby smiles at well-wishers after DA wraps case

Prosecutors in Norristown, Pennsylvania, on Friday showed excerpts from Cosby's deposition more than a decade ago, in which he said he obtained seven prescriptions for Quaaludes, then provided them to women rather than take them himself. He says the sexual encounter with Andrea Constand was consensual.

"What was happening at that time - Quaaludes happened to be the drugs kids, young kids, were using to party with and there were times I wanted to have them just in case", Cosby said in his deposition for the suit, which Constand settled with him in late 2006.

The comedian contends that his relationship with Constand was consensual, and that the broken Benadryl tablets he admits to giving her on the night she says the assault took place were only meant to help her sleep. During his civil deposition, Cosby admitted to stockpiling Quaaludes with the sole objective of giving them to "young women he meant to have sexual contact with", reports Daily Mail.

Cosby said it was on her second visit to his home that she rebuffed him. She gave no indication of anything "negative" occurring, the deposition said.

He said: "I apologized but my apology was, 'My God, I'm in trouble with these people because this is a dirty old man with a young girl.' And the mother seizes on this...."

Valliere said victims often delay reporting or do not report at all when their abuser is someone they trust for fear of upsetting family dynamics or because they are dependent on their abuser - the same reason they often maintain contact with that person.

His deposition also showed he anxious that his career could take a financial hit if Constand's allegations became public.

Andrea Constand, then an administrator with Temple University's women's basketball team, was 30 at the time of the alleged crime in 2004.

On Tuesday and Wednesday (June 6-7), jurors heard compelling testimony from the woman who has accused Cosby of sexually assaulting her, Andrea Constand.

Assistant District Attorney Kristen Feden point out that the defense had questioned Constand's behavior, spending nearly an hour grilling her about phone calls to Cosby in the weeks after the alleged assault.

A desperate Bill Cosby may go against his own word and take the stand in his sexual assault trial! Cosby was asked in a passage read Friday. And what people want to say and want you to say and how they maneuver, and, yes, I do have lawyers protect me - objection; sustained. "We're over the telephone and I'm not sending anything over the mail and I'm not giving away anything". The defense will begin its case Monday in the sexual assault trial. Only in Constand's case has Cosby been charged. Constand is the only woman whose allegations have resulted in criminal charges against the "Cosby Show" star.

Prior to the recitation of the deposition, Cheltenham Township Sgt. Richard Schaffer testified that, in a 2005 interview after Constand reported the incident, Cosby kissed and fondled Constand on the couch.

Some 60 women have come forward to say the man dubbed America's Dad sexually violated them, but the statute of limitations for prosecution had run out in almost every case.

"You're biased in this case, aren't you?' McMonagle asked her". Once the prosecution rests, which is expected shortly, the defense will present its case.
