So far in the series, India have recorded two victories and one defeat - they beat South Africa comprehensively in their last outing, defeating a rather hapless Pakistan by 124 runs in the series opener (by Duckworth-Lewis method), while losing to Sri Lanka at The Oval even after scoring above 300.
India will take on Bangladesh in the second semi final on Thursday.
Kohli, speaking before a revitalised Pakistan clinched their place in the final with a shock eight-wicket win over England in Cardiff on Wednesday, warned: "There are no guarantees in this sport". As we have seen in the league stages as well, a lot of teams have surprised the opposition, and we are certainly not taking anything for granted. We will use whatever momentum we have gained in this tournament to execute what we want to. "And our mindset does not differ", Kohli told the reporters. We will not be going according to the past results.
"Bangladesh have taken huge strides", said Kohli. In between, the Bangladesh "Tigers" beat India at home in a three-match one-day series.
"They are playing really good cricket and they are doing a lot of things right to be in that position".
"They have cricketers who are skilled, who are committed and play with a passion - that shows in their attitude".
When Shakib and Mahmudullah scored hundreds against New Zealand after Bangladesh were reduced to 33 for 4, it was because they had the talent and the ability to soak in the pressure against Trent Boult and Co. It's wrong to suggest that the Tigers are total minnows and I've already written them off against the Kiwis, but they are playing the kings of the subcontinent and they surely can't, can they? They know one more slip and the title is beyond them and will do all they can to stand up to the tag of defending champions. But then India showed their true colours in the make-or-break game against South Africa and if they maintain the same form, it will be enough to see them through against the Tigers.
"His contribution to cricket has been outstanding", said Kohli. We have to win this match at any cost. Mortaza played down the factor and instead focused on the game ahead of him.
India have won six of the nine matches they've played at Edgbaston, while Bangladesh have lost both of their games at the ground, In 31 completed ODIs between the two sides India have won 26, but they are too short at [1.25] to attract my money, although surely they win this match.
Now, it is up to the 22 players who will take the field on Thursday and qualify for the finals, favorites being team India. But as a team we are trying to improve our cricket.
"Obviously we have been disappointed, especially in India the T20 World Cup where we couldn't go through three balls, needed two runs, and our best two batsmen in the wicket".
Captain Mashrafe Mortaza said they would try treating the game against India just like any other as thinking about the magnitude of the occasion will only attract more pressure. But I think India have got more pressure than us because they got a bigger population and people love cricket in India a lot.
