"The Notorious" has climbed the ranks of UFC, becoming the face of the industry in short time.
Floyd Mayweather's boxing firm has verbally retracted a date request for a potential fight with Conor McGregor to take place on 26 August.
Known for his devastating striking and highlight-reel knockouts, McGregor is also quick and irrational on his feet, but few would back him to beat one of the most complete boxers of all time.
You can catch the entire media scrum below via the UFC on YouTube.
Let's call a spade a spade.
"We thank all our partners for their co-operation and understanding as we wish them the absolute best moving forward". The Mayweather-McGregor fight has been under negotiation for about two years.
But McGregor, whose UFC titles have come at 145 and 155 pounds, is under long-term contract to the UFC and needed the company to go along with making the bout.
The 28-year-old McGregor is seeking a boxing license in Nevada to take on Mayweather. As a result, if Mayweather pulls off the victory, he'll become the first boxer to have a ideal 50-0 record. The length of the fight was also unknown initially, though it has since come out that it would be a full, 12-round boxing match. It's doubtful anyone would dwell on a McGregor defeat, even if he were to lose in embarrassing fashion. A victory for the Irishman would be a monumental upset. Sure, Mayweather will be pretty content with raking in a boatload of money, but there's no denying a loss would tarnish his legacy. "This is a total different feel from the [Manny] Pacquiao fight because this is the unknown factor".
ESPN, as always, went bananas on the big story of the day, devoting most of its Wednesday evening "SportsCenter" to the fight. His last fight was against Andre Berto in September 2015 to defend his welterweight world title.
Floyd has fought trash talkers before ... but none like Conor.
Oddsmakers immediately made Mayweather a big 11-1 favorite in a fight that will take place in a boxing ring and be governed by boxing rules.
McGregor will be playing with house money when he walks into the ring later this summer.
