McGregor Target Date of 8/26 Approved By NSAC

Mayweather Promotions has made reservations for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, fuelling ongoing rumors that retired undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather will make a return.

Whether the date is August 26 or another night that works, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are inching closer to making their boxing match official.

Mayweather's team had originally added an item Monday to the commission's meeting for Wednesday to get approval for an event on the August 26 date, but as soon as that became public, Mayweather retracted his request, according to the L.A. Times.

"IT'S OFFICIAL!" Mayweather wrote on his Twitter account alongside a short video that included still photos of both fighters. Purse speculation has both fighters earning in excess of $100 million.

Ward is the host of a new web series called "NBC Fights", showcasing the best of boxing and MMA in Northern California.

According to the Los Angeles Times, however, Mayweather Promotions has since retracted the request. While McGregor has already agreed to terms, talks with Mayweather's camp and Showtime - the fight's proposed pay-per-view broadcaster - have yet to conclude.

Regardless, all signs point to Mayweather and McGregor coming to an agreement soon. It comes less than a month before Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez meet in a highly anticipated fight September 16 that could rival it for pay-per-view buys.

To be clear, Bob Bennett said, that could change again before Wednesday morning's meeting in Las Vegas.

White said the fight would be at 154lbs - light middleweight - and added: " It'll be in a ring, it's a boxing event.

The Notorious McGregor went to Instagram Tuesday (June 13) to taunt his overnight sports rival.
