Los Angeles to light Batsignal in Adam West tribute on June 15

Garcetti and Beck will light up the iconic signal for the star of the "Batman", who passed away at the age of 88 last Friday, at 200 N Spring Street down town in an event that will start around 9 PM PT Thursday evening.

The world mourned when Batman icon Adam West passed away earlier this week after battling with leukemia. The city of Los Angeles will honor the "Bright Knight" in the most appropriate manner possible, by having Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Department Chief Charlie Beck light the Bat-signal at City Hall. Adam West passed away peacefully last night after a short but courageous battle with leukemia.

Adam West may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

West starred in the Batman TV series and in the 1966 movie version, becoming a campy comedy hero.

After Adam West, a thread of other actors played the Batman, including Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck. He said: "Batman's popularity will be forever linked with Adam West". "Bat-Guests" are also promised to come into attendance during the lighting ceremony.

"Family Guy has lost its mayor, and I have lost a friend", MacFarlane wrote. For those unable to attend, West's family encourages donations to the Adam West Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Camp Rainbow Gold.

Prior to his death, West returned as the caped crusader in the animated feature Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and had finished his work on the follow-up film, Batman vs. Two-Face.
