Latest on Manchester United trying to sign Alvaro Morata

Spanish media outlet Cadena SER understands that Manchester United are set to complete the signing of striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

López is waiting to see if United and Real can agree a fee before discussing personal terms.

Lopez will be trying to convince Madrid of accepting United's last offer, close to €80 million.

Marca is reporting that the Champions League winners are showing no urgency to offload the 24-year-old striker in the transfer window.

Speaking about United's movements to Italian online publication Calciomercato, Lopez said: "It's a club with a lot charm - a very interesting option".

"I can say that their proposal is a very, very important one and now the decision rests with Real".

"Quite simply, Real Madrid considered the Rossoneri's offer to be unsatisfactory". "I can not tell [if an agreement is close], we'll see".

James has really struggled to fit into Zinedine Zidane's team in recent months, and was altogether left out of the Champions League Final squad, a match Los Blancos won comfortably against Juventus, 4-1. In search of regular playing time, he is now eager to join United, who are looking to replace injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The sale would fund the desired purchase of Monaco's Kylian Mbappe.

It had been thought that United could get the deal done for a price of just over £60m or €75m, but the European champions are now unwilling to countenance going so low.
