Golden State Warriors beat Cleveland Cavaliers to win Championship

Led by NBA Finals MVP and newcomer Kevin Durant, the NBA's latest "super team" proved to be too much for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, the Warriors were still able to overcome and reclaim their title from Cleveland, which beat them in last year's NBA Finals.

"You have to tip your hat to Cleveland", he said. "I've been so lucky to be part of so many championship teams as a player and now as a coach, and it never gets old".

The Warriors also posted a 16-1 record (.941 win percentage) in these playoffs to go on the best title run ever, percentage points better than the 2001 Lakers (15-1, .938).

The Warriors took a 71-60 half-time lead but the Cavaliers trimmed the deficit, Smith sinking a 3-pointer to pull Cleveland within 98-93 entering the fourth quarter. Superteam? No, we just work extremely well together. I have no reason to look back at what I could have done or what I shouldn't have done or what I could have done better for the team.

Curry is an unrestricted free agent this summer and Durant can become one with a player option.

Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry drives past Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James in the first quarter.

"I left everything on the floor every game, all five games", he said. "But tonight was a little different, just based on the things I've had to go through during this time".

An All-NBA core that already included Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green got even more risky, and the 2017 NBA Finals were a ideal representation of how far behind the rest of the league is. "I'm so happy Kevin has broken through and there's more to come from him". David West fought for the ball with Irving, then they got tangled up and Tristan Thompson entered the fray and he and West went at each other face-to-face.

The win provided redemption for the Warriors, who brought Kevin Durant over from the Oklahoma City Thunder last off-season to bolster their already high-powered offense.

2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala scored 20 points off the bench. A lot of these guys beat the odds and came out and played a great brand of basketball and put the team first. Not only would the trade give Cleveland a much better chance of beating Golden State, it would allow IN to remain relevant without George, who is widely rumored to be leaving IN free agency at the end of next season.

"Golden State (was) the best team this year", James said.
