Golden State defeat Cleveland Cavaliers to claim National Basketball Association crown

The Warriors won Monday's game five 129-120 at Oakland's Oracle Arena as Kevin Durant - named National Basketball Association finals MVP - starred with 39 points, while guard Stephen Curry had 34.

The Warriors figure to sign Curry to a five-year deal for about $205 million since he has taken less money in recent years to help finance a strong supporting cast.

Still pinning from Cleveland Cavaliers' heavy NBA Finals defeat to the Golden State Warriors, LeBron James may just have one more problem to contend with: rapper The Game. The Warriors claimed the title in 2015, before it changed hands to the Cavaliers past year.

Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant tries to shoot over Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving in the first quarter. But instead of celebrating Golden State's greatness, former players are poking holes in the Warriors' historic achievements.

In our opinion, fully deserved.

The five-game series averaged 20.4 million million viewers on television, plus an average minute streaming audience of 434,000.

In the end, the Cavaliers simply did not have the requisite star power to topple the talent-laden Warriors, even with four-time league MVP James doing all he could to keep his team in it.

It was the second time he and Durant had met in a finals series, following 2012 when James and the Miami Heat beat Durant's Oklahoma City Thunder 4-1.

This time everything was ideal for KD. "We came together, we continued to believe in each other, sacrificed, and we're champs now", he said. I need to get off of my feet and let my joints and let my body kind of recover from being out on the floor for 14 straight years.

"They're going to be around for a while", he added. "No matter what anybody says from now on in your career, they can never take away from you being a champion". In 2011, he tweeted that if he had to pick one person to marry, it would be her. "It's just a part of who I am now". And I just tried to do that, but also be aggressive. We weren't supposed to be here.

"We'll handle that accordingly and responsibly, and do the right thing for us individually and as a group". You put clothes on our backs. When you didn't eat, you made sure we ate.

"You don't want anybody to have to sacrifice in that sense".
