Scalise was critically injured and remained in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon, according to MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
In recent months, Hodgkinson called Congressman Mike Bost's office at least 10 times with complaints about the Republican's stance on health care and his voting record, Bost said in a statement.
Steve Scalise, the senior Republican lawmaker seriously wounded in Wednesday's shooting at a baseball practice near Washington, is a hard-line conservative who opposes abortion, immigration and gun control, and who cleared numerous hurdles to become the No. 3 House Republican.
Colleagues said Scalise, who had been fielding balls at second base, dragged himself away from the infield, leaving a trail of blood before they rushed to his assistance.
The California Democrat notes that she herself is now featured in millions of dollars of attack ads running in a Georgia House district where there's a hard-fought special election next week.
"America is praying for you and America is praying for all of the victims of this awful shooting", he said".
President Donald Trump will not be attending Thursday's game, however, due to security concerns.
She says that everyone should examine their own conscience.
"I think the Congress people were the targets", he said. Mika requires assistance to breath and will need more surgery.
They also met the doctors treating Scalise, including Ira Rabin, vice president for medical operations of the hospital and talked to Scalises wife Jennifer, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters. Brooks said he heard Scalise scream. He was later visited by the president in the hospital.
"It's been much more hard than people even thought at that time", Trump said. "He's in some trouble".
One of those people is Congressman Steve Scalise.
"We've had a very, very divided country for many years", Trump said. One Capitol Hill police officer also suffered a gunshot wound and another officer suffered a non-gunshot injury, an official said. He says, "They ran right into the fire" and saved a lot of lives.
Republican Rep. Gregg Harper of MS gaveled in the session on Thursday, and Rep. Glenn Thompson of Pennsylvania opened the morning speeches.
While police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation said it was too early to determine whether it was a deliberate political attack, the shooting intensified concerns about the sharp divide and bitter rhetoric in USA politics.
Speaking on the US House floor, representative Glenn Thompson issued a call to "replace the hateful rhetoric and resistance with respect". Several of my closest friends in Congress are Republicans, and we share stories of our families, children and sports teams after votes and throughout the day. Capital police and Alexandria police exchanged gunfire with the shooter before disarming him and taking him into custody.
Scalise had to face down demands for his resignation in 2014 after admitting to addressing a gathering with ties to Ku Klux Klan former leader David Duke, a scandal which complicated the party's effort to distance itself from the specter of white nationalism.
Police stood alongside the fence at the field where the women's team often gathers for early morning practices.
The team of Democrats and Republicans holds an annual softball game against female journalists.
The shooting took place at a practice for the GOP congressional baseball team.
"I never thought I'd play a baseball game for charity, go to practice at 6:30 in the morning, and have to dodge bullets", he said.
Four others were also wounded in the shooting, including two Capitol Police officers, a congressional staffer and a lobbyist.
He was identified as James T. Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old home inspector from IL who had several minor run-ins with the law in recent years and belonged to a Facebook group called "Terminate the Republican Party".
