AIIMS MBBS results declared; Odia boy secures fourth spot

Around 1,89,357 candidates appeared for AIIMS MBBS 2017.

AIIMS 2017 results were declared in the wee hours of early morning today in which Purohit was declared as the topper.

This year, all top 10 AIR holders are from the Kota-based Allen Career Institute.

Purohit plans to study cardiology or radiology at AIIMS, New Delhi. "However, the marks/ Percentile Scores of individual candidate will be made available on AIIMS Website", according to the official notification of AIIMS MBBS 2017 entrance exam. "When contacted, an official from AIIMS examination section confirmed to NDTV that the institute will declare the results tomorrow". Her father Nirmal Indu who is a IIT alumnus is presently working as president in a private firm in Odisha.

She said she owed her success to the coaching institute, her parents and family.

She told her mother Himanshu and brother Anshul to be her source of inspiration.

Anshul Purohit, also an IIT-Bombay alumnus, is at present working in United States of America and has remained a "source of inspiration" for Purohit. She replied by saying that classroom learning was the most important part but it should be followed by self-study and homework completion on daily basis.

However, she quickly added she cowuld continue to play basketball.

The list of candidates who qualify for counseling to the MBBS course are displayed with their roll numbers on AIIMS' official web portal.

When asked whether she is active on social media, Nishita said, she managed to keep away from social medial platforms while preparing for the AIIMS exam, but did not give up her smartphone.
