Adele spotted at London's Grenfell Tower after deadly fire

The building was renovated in recent years and the companies involved in the project have removed the details of the renovations from their websites. Investigators said they did not expect to find anyone else alive after the blaze and that it was too early to speculate on how the inferno that engulfed the 24-floor building started.

Rydon, the firm responsible for the refit, said the project "met all required building regulations". Survivors told of frantic attempts to escape.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

While some emergency rest centres were also set up for the people who were asked to vacate the houses surrounding the tower, Saint Clement Church and Saint James Church at Notting Hill, received people who were evacuated from their homes in the Grenfell tower following a fire in the 27-storey building. "There are, as we believe, still unknown numbers of people in the building", Cotton told Sky News. Semira Mohammed, 37, a science technician who lives nearby, said she knew a family of five who lived on the 21 floor of the block.

The disaster triggered a wave of mourning in a country already battered by a string of terror attacks.

The Queen also said it is "heartening" to witness how the local community has rallied to provide support for the victims.

A lawyer for the family of an Italian woman missing in the London high-rise fire says she told her mom in a final call: "Flames are in the living room".

Volunteers in Glasgow - 550 kilometres (350 miles) away - sent a truck laden with nappies and other supplies.

In pictures on Twitter, the star, who was born in Tottenham, north London, appeared emotional and was dressed in black.

But Kostas Tsavdaridis, associate professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Leeds warned: "Some materials used in facades act as significant fire loads".

As the recovery effort continues more than £500,000 has been raised for those affected by the fire.

Because parliament will not officially return until the Queen's Speech next Wednesday, members had to gather in Westminster Hall in order to quiz fire minister Nick Hurd and housing minister Alok Sharma on the Government's response to the devastating fire in Kensington, west London. They apparently lived on the 22nd floor, and the Lebanese Embassy has listed them as missing.

"Most Muslims now observing Ramadan will normally not go to bed until about 2 am, maybe 2.30 am, when they have their late night last meal".

Residents of Grenfell Tower who escaped the fire described a chaotic scene. When she got downstairs there was only four of them with her.
