United home in on Álvaro Morata

With Manchester United reportedly close to signing Alvaro Morata, it has been revealed what Jose Mourinho reportedly told the Real Madrid striker to convince him to join his side.

United made the Real Madrid striker their No.1 priority this summer after missing out on Antoine Griezmann. Milan have signed André Silva from Porto instead.

The agent of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has revealed that AC Milan's attempts to sign the striker have suffered a setback after their bid for the Spain worldwide was rejected.

Lopez told www.calciomercato.com of United: "It's a club with a lot of charm, a very interesting option".

It was claimed on Monday that Chelsea could "gazump" United's bid for Morata, but the Spaniard has already agreed terms at Old Trafford.

'I can say that there's a very important offer and the decision now rests with Real'. "I can not say but we will see soon".

"Yes, there was frequent contact with us until a few days ago - I can confirm that", added Morata's representative. "Quite simply, Real Madrid considered Milan's offer to be unsatisfactory".

And it seems an agreement between the clubs is on the cards as according to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Manchester United and Real Madrid are set to agree a fee by the end of today or tomorrow.

Morata, 24, has struggled for games at Real, starting just 14 in La Liga last season.
