"I think with a little bit more mentoring, you'll be a real asset to the team".
The synopsis of the film reads: "A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming".
There are also a couple new promo images along with several pieces of concept art that have been released showing off some Spider-Man and Vulture designs and action sequences. Yeah, well now you know.
Sony and Marvel Studios have released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Spider-Man: Homecoming, looking at Tony Stark mentoring Peter Parker. It also means we could have a Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 (again, for lack of a better title) by 2021, if they wanted to keep him around high-school for the whole trilogy.
Marvel isn't normally thrilled about actors giving away movie plans too early, to the point where Holland publicly burned his Infinity War script after forgetting to return it, just to calm Marvel down.
However, that deal that was years in the making between Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige comes to an end with Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Holland's appearance in the Avengers movies. They would be insane to not continue their collaboration with Marvel Studios, especially if their only other plan for the Spider-Man property is spin-offs for Venom and ancillary characters like Silver Sable and Black Cat. He said: "I was supposed to dodge it and I just didn't see it coming".
There had been rumors that, furious with the overall cost of Homecoming, Sony had elected to terminate their relationship with Marvel, leading to their announcement of their own comic book universe, with Tom Hardy as Venom. The inclusion of the character came after not one, but two Spider-Man franchises fell apart at Sony. Now star Tom Holland has revealed that it will be the first part of a trilogy of movies.
