Madhya Pradesh CM Gives Rs 1 Crore to Dead Farmer's Family

The political turmoil in Madhya Pradesh went up a notch on Tuesday, June 13, after Gujarat's quota activist Hardik Patel and Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia were arrested while trying to make their way to Mandsaur.

In a statement, the team said, "The chief minister instead of doing undertaking fast and resting in Bhopal, should have reached the houses of the farmers who were killed and wounded by the state police".

The Chief Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the family of one of them. His statement comes when farmers from across the country have been protesting and demanding loan waivers.

On Sunday, Chouhan ended his day-old indefinite fast which he started here for the restoration of peace in his state rocked by violence during a farmers' agitation.

"One week has passed since the killing of the five protesting farmers in Mandsaur in police firing". "The commission headquarters will be at Indore and it will submit its report in three months", a state public relations department official said. Rahul Gandhi, who tried to visit the city last week, was detained for a few hours at a local guest house.

Even, Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel was also arrested in Neemuch district when he was on his way to Mandsaur to express his solidarity with the agitating farmers.

Team members strongly protested calling the effort to stop the team to enter into Mandsaur as "undemocratic and unjustifiable", adding Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had already announced that there was peace in Mandsaur and curfew had been withdrawn. I promise that along with BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will irrigate every land.

"If we talk to any leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, they shall boast of the enhanced farming but the fact is that the agricultural policy is production oriented and not producer oriented", he said.

A video, which went viral, purportedly showed Khatik inciting people to set a police station ablaze.

Karera's sub-divisional officer of Police (SDOP) Anurag Sujania said the FIR was registered against Khatik, block Congress president Venus Goyal and others early today.
