Ill. Man ID'd as Suspect in GOP Baseball Shooting

Hodgkinson was a licensed home inspector in IL according to public records, but his license lapsed last November. According to the Washington Post, records show his business license expired in November 2016 and was not renewed.

Hodgkinson allegedly opened fire at a field in Alexandria, Virginia, several law enforcement sources told NBC News.

His profile features a banner photo of Bernie Sanders, and he has shared articles about President Trump, including one in which he says 'Trump is a Traitor.

Police have identified the suspect in Wednesday morning's GOP baseball practice shooting as James.

The representative said practice usually begins about six weeks before the game. NBC has identified him as James Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville.

U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, was in stable condition despite being shot in the hip during the baseball practice, the congressman's office announced Wednesday morning.

"Trump has destroyed our democracy. It's time to destroy Trump & Co.", he reportedly posted on the social media website.

Charles Orear, 50, a restaurant manager from St. Louis, said in an interview Wednesday that he became friendly with Hodgkinson during their work together in Iowa on Sanders's campaign. "We consider this incident to be a closed incident under investigation". An aide of Texas Rep. Roger Williams and members of the Capitol Police Department also were shot.
