Golden State Warriors: 5 takeaways from Game 3 vs

The Golden State Warriors have a 3-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, and it doesn't seem like the defending champs will win a game.

The Warriors won their first 15 playoff games, the longest postseason streak in North American sport history, but 48 minutes from a party they've been planning for a year has been put on hold. Durant himself will likely be named Finals MVP.

Curry's offensive partner, eight-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant, also spoke ahead of Game 4, urging his team to stay focused. Cleveland took Game 3 at home, lost Game 4 and then won the final three games - Game 7 in Oakland - to capture the city's first sports championship since 1964.

Last season, James was able to power the Cavaliers past the Warriors then led by the "Splash Brothers" Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

"You also understand the energy level that it takes in order to make that type of shot and what it demands out of your body", Irving said.

Golden State trailed by five points at the start of the fourth quarter and fell down six on a JR Smith three-pointer with 3:09 to go. So I don't want to relax or feel like it's over. They have seen the Cavaliers come back from a series deficit before, and they were more prepared for the best Cleveland had to offer.

It was a stunning display of offensive pyrotechnics that dovetailed with the Cavaliers' late-game collapse, a disheartening result that nearly felt unfair, unjust and undeserved.

If not for Cleveland's Kyle Korver missing a 3-pointer in the final minute of Game 3, the series would be 2-2.

"We talked about it since The Finals last year", said Curry, "that the last season was a very unique year, for a lot of different reasons, and we learned a lot".

Toying with other teams, Golden State has turned the National Basketball Association postseason into its personal playground, storming to a record 15 straight wins and moving within a victory on Friday night in Game 4 of another title and into the conversation of the best teams ever. They're going to be wanting a win from their team.

Although James may be throwing some ever so slight shade toward Durant and the Warriors, it appears as though the superstar forward is delivering more praise than anything else here.

Kerr mockingly agreed, saying after the Warriors' shootaround that "the game gets worse as time goes on" and "players are less talented than they used to be". In 2016, they overcame a 3-1 deficit to win the title.

His three-pointer with 45.3 seconds remaining was the go-ahead basket as the Warriors scored the game's final 11 points.

"I think the whole thing was how fun it would be, because of the style of play, because of the individual talents", Kerr said.
