Bailly the man to partner Lindelof as Mourinho weighs up United options

United are still believed to be in pole position to sign Belotti but with reports suggesting Alvaro Morata could be heading to Old Trafford from Real Madrid, maybe Mourinho wants both to transform his forward line?

Manchester United have identified Chelsea's Nemanja Matic as Jose Mourinho look for options to further strengthen his midfield.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are not interested in Fabinho and will instead target Matic to replace Michael Carrick.

With The Sun reporting that United will give up on Fabinho, it's suggested that the focus will switch to Matic with Mourinho very familiar with the Serbian global as he played an important role for him during his second stint at Stamford Bridge. The Brazil worldwide has attracted a lot of interest across Europe with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City keeping tabs on the player.

Jose Mourinho has made signing a defensive midfielder a priority this summer and has been linked with a number of players since the end of the season. He has truly come a long way since and blossomed at the French club by learning to balance his attacking instincts with his basic defensive duties with relative ease.

The Telegraph are citing reports coming from Spanish newspaper Marca that claim United have made great advances in negotiations with Monaco over a £50m deal to sign Fabinho. It was because of his goal that Monaco surged ahead of their opponents in the second leg.
