Microsoft announces Xbox One X as 'world's most powerful console'

All existing Xbox One games will be compatible with the newest console, and games which have not been produced at 4K resolution can be "scaled up" to improve the visuals.

The full reveal of the Xbox One X, previously known as Project Scorpio, was one of the most-wanted aspects of Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference, and the conference itself certainly didn't disappoint. Aside from being extremely powerful, the new Xbox is also the smallest one yet, which means it's the most advanced console the gaming industry has ever seen.

Microsoft first revealed that the Xbox One X was under development a year ago, giving it the code name Project Scorpio.

Moving on to how the new console looks, the new Xbox One X does not actually represent a marked difference as compared to the Xbox One S.

So, will you be getting an Xbox One X? You have to admire technologies like the Liquid-cooled vapour chamber housed inside the X that allows the console to keep cool while outputting games at a native 4K with incredibly steady frame-rates. This allows the consoles, along with Xbox's main competitor PlayStation 4, to serve as streaming devices for high quality content.

"Xbox One X, the most powerful console ever made, sets a new standard for gamers and game creators", said Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft's Xbox division. How much does it cost?

However, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter says the "pricey" Xbox One X could become a hard sell for Microsoft.

Microsoft and Sony both introduced their previous generation consoles in late 2013. They're supposed to tell you whether a game you're looking to buy will offer support for the Xbox One X, and what it's special X features should be.

The first true Microsoft exclusives only appear from the sixth place with Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 7, immediately followed by Rare's Sea of Thieves and Sumo Digital's Crackdown 3.

The new Xbox One X will pack in 6 teraflops of graphical power, which is much higher than the PS4 Pro that came out past year.
