Gingrich told host John Catsimatidis, "The more incredible thing I thought that Comey did that I think is going to have a lot of repercussions is Comey admitted publicly, in fact, boasted about it, that he had deliberately leaked ... in order to set up the pressure to get a special, independent counsel".
Sekulow said in response, "James Comey has made misstatements to the House and Senate on multiple times during the investigation into Secretary Clinton".
"So I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter", Comey said.
Gingrich said it's clear that former FBI-Director James Comey's testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence will interfere with Mueller's ability to conduct a fair investigation. Mueller previously led the agency from 2001 to 2013.
'I mean, George, you know, we've all been concerned about leaks and here he was the source of that leak, ' he added.
The Senate committee sent a request for Comey's memos from the Federal Bureau of Investigation on and a separate request to the White House for any records kept by Trump, on May 17. It also could establish a precedent in which Congress expects presidents to come before Congress and submit to their questions whenever they demand it. We know for a fact those exist, though.
Trump's personal attorney Marc Kasowitz accused Comey of leaking so-called "privileged" communications with the president and suggested the former top cop should be investigated for doing so. Then look at who Mueller's starting to hire. Sekulow said, "The president said he is going to address the issue of the tapes, whether the tapes exist or not, next week".
"But right now the role of the president is to govern the United States of America", Sekulow continued.
Comey testified Thursday that Trump asked him to drop an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and implied Trump may have become the subject of investigation himself for interfering in the FBI's work.
