Donald Trump slams James Comey after accusations on lying

US President Donald Trump's personal lawyer plans to file a complaint over memos shared by former FBI Director James Comey about his conversations with the president, US broadcaster CNN has reported.

During the hearing, Comey said he felt as if Trump telling him that he "hoped" the FBI could end the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was a direction from the president. "Didn't do it myself for a variety of reasons but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel, so I asked a close friend of mine to do it".

Trump's pledge to offer sworn testimony to Mueller came in a press conference the day after Comey's dramatic testimony before the Senate intelligence committee.

Trump took to social media the day after Comey said the president fired him to undermine the FBI's investigation into Trump's apparent ties with Russian Federation.

"There would be nothing wrong if I did say that, according to everybody that I've read today", he added.

I have no doubt that FBI Director James Comey is a true professional, but his arrogance and righteousness were on full display when testifying.

"Comey was thinking three steps ahead of the president by writing the memo and ensuring it couldn't be labeled classified", he said.

Comey told a Senate committee Thursday that he believes Trump fired him over the Russian Federation probe, and he accused the White House of lying about the details of the dismissal.

He said the President had lied that the FBI was in disarray, and that Mr Trump wanted assurances he would be "loyal" and that he himself was not under investigation.

"We also were aware of facts that I can't discuss in an open setting that would make his continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic", Comey said.

During his Congressional briefing organised by the powerful Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Thursday, Comey confessed that he leaked the information about his interaction with the USA president.

One source of the Trump-Comey dispute: Comey's memos.

Trump has expressed a willingness to repeat his version of the events under oath.

The president wrote on social media: "Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication.and WOW, Comey is a leaker".

"Obstruction of justice is a very hard thing to prove", says Andy Arena, executive director of the Detroit Crime Commission, and the former special agent in charge with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Detroit.

President Trump denied asking Mr Comey for his loyalty: "I hardly know the man".

And Trump might comment further in a scheduled Rose Garden 2:45 p.m. news conference with the president of Romania, who is visiting the White House and participating in a bilateral meeting.
