Kohli is a great player with a big heart: AB de Villiers

South Africa and India were shoe-ins for the semis before the tournament began, and de Villiers and Kohli were expected to be among the dominators. "I'll be expecting to see him in the team tomorrow, so we are preparing to see him", he said.

"I can't say if we prefer to have to play against him or not".

Having played for Royal Challengers Bangalore alongside De Villiers, Kohli said that he knows AB s mindset better than anyone else.

"He's by far the most committed cricketer I've ever seen around, and the reason for that is he is trying to do something extra for his team", Kohli said. He always likes to come out on top.

He also added that both Kohli and Kumble were mature individuals who had the best interests of Indian cricket at hand and though their approach may be extreme to each other, he feels that there is nothing that serious that can not be resolved by a heart-to-heart to talk with each other. He is a top-class player.

Were India skipper Virat Kohli and his South African counterpart AB de Villiers undone by the "curse" of a Pakistan sportscaster?

"If you perform in them and your team gets across the line, it's a different feeling".

"He's a quality player, everybody gets first-ballers, it's just taken him 200 games! He can really hurt you, hurt your bowling attack and take the game away from you", he insisted.

Interestingly, this was de Villiers's 221st game and the South Africa skipper had never been dismissed for a golden duck in an ODI game before that.

"It depends on the conditions, really". "If it doesn't happen, then so be it". He's a great bowler.

India lost to Sri Lanka by seven wickets despite amassing 321/6. "But that's for them to decide". "If he is in the team, we will try our best to play well against him". "I think you need to have a good balance of being competitive, being passionate about the game but at the same time not get overexcited". I have thoroughly enjoyed every second out there. I understand what I am trying to do out there. "I think composure will be the biggest word for tomorrow".

"But yeah, pencil is in your hand, and I unfortunately can't control what you are going to write but in my mind I am a good captain".

While a few BCCI officials have already held talks with the duo, Bhajji is hopeful that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of Indian legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, who chose Kumble for the one-year period back in 2016 and also entrusted with the job of picking India's next coach, can intervene and hold discussions with the duo to resolve the matter.
