Google Pixel 2 Major Leak Takes On iPhone 8 And Galaxy S8

The features of the upcoming Pixel smartphones have appeared previously through leaks.

The Google Pixel 2 family of smartphones will serve as launch vehicles for the new Android 8.0 O (likely Oreo), so Google will likely go all in with the hardware specs as well.

GFXBench test reveals the graphics performance of Pixel XL 2 sporting a 5.6-inch display in 18:5.9 aspect ratio.

The company has made note of a few changes they made for Android O, including a new release schedule for updates that will hopefully make more Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) versions better updated. Now we have to wait and watch for more leaks to know more about the device. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but Google is expected to unveil the handset later on in the year so check back with us in the coming months where hopefully we'll have more details to share. Add in the navigation bar and you arrive at 2,560x1,440 or QHD, the same resolution used in last year's Pixel XL.

Thus, if Google is to establish itself as a major player in the smartphone marketplace, arguably something that it has failed to do thus far, it must deliver an outstanding Pixel 2 release. Firstly, the XL 2 will be based on the Snapdragon 835 chipset already included in the Galaxy S8.

That would make it even more of a phablet than its predecessor. The device is equipped with an Adreno 540 GPU.

Also, it features 4GB RAM, same as the first generation Pixel phones. The device in the listing was a 128GB storage variant.

Weirdness aside, this very well might be our first actual look into what to expect from Google at the end of 2017. Both the cameras are capable of shooting 4K resolution videos. "This is larger than the current screens, a 5" for the Pixel and a 5.5" for the Pixel XL. The Samsung Galaxy S8 houses that elongated aspect ratio and it is widely speculated that the iPhone 8 could be doing the same.
