From a basketball perspective, the Cavs have progressed throughout the series, from very bad in Game 1 to less so in Game 2, followed by a heartbreaking Game 3 they should've won but couldn't score in the final three minutes of a five-point loss.
The Cavaliers' 24 three-pointers in Game 4 set an National Basketball Association record in a Finals game, and it was an especially rare feat for Cleveland. With 3 straight wins, the Golden State Warriors are the indisputable team to win the NBA Finals as they want to close out the series and not going back to Oakland.
James' stat line is basically set in stone at this point, and his greatness has become so commonplace that it's easy to overlook what's been one of the best individual Finals performances of all time.
But Irving mentioned it and James said some players in the locker room had it on their minds.
They will ride together into Game 5 where a little self-knowledge might go a long way against an excellent Warriors team trying to convince itself last year was last year.
No, really. No one has ever run through the postseason without a blemish and the Golden State Warriors attempt at a 16-0 mark was derailed by a taste of their own medicine - the Cleveland Cavaliers exploding for historic offensive outbursts. I don't know man maybe poop on it?
So the Cavs will push the pace Monday, try to hound Curry into more reckless turnovers, goad Draymond Green into apoplectic moments. Yet it didn't take too much out of the game.
But if history somehow repeats itself, it actually would be a bigger collapse than past year since the Warriors led this series 3-0. "We were just talking. I want to see how it feels to win at home", he said.
"I think the biggest thing, though, was they brought a level of physicality that we did not match".
"They did a good job of attacking early and it opened up their three-point game", said Durant, who had a team-high 35 points.
"You can take the hard fouls out of the game calling them flagrant, but you can't take the emotion out of the game", said Durant.
"We got to find our edge and respond", Warriors guard Stephen Curry said. Golden State's a tough team. I'm stressed out. Keep doing this every year.
The 2017 NBA Finals is now averaging a 12.8 metered market rating through four games, up 5% from a 12.2 in 2016. Their defence, so tight in the first two games and still strong in the third, was no where close in Game 4.
But Green was almost ejected from Game 4 Friday after being charged with two technical fouls.
"We were able to get out in transition and score some easy baskets", Lue said after the 137-116.
Curry said the Warriors will be ready to answer the Cavaliers raising their game. LeBron, meanwhile, had 31 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, maintaining the triple-double average he already had in the series. Green told reporters after the game.
Irving and James suggested that the Cavs took offense to this, though it's unclear what else Green was supposed to say.
But it's the one they had to have, and a series that wasn't living up to its hype and seemed headed for a quick conclusion is California bound for Game 5 on Monday night.
