Constand's testimony was the first time she was able to tell her story in public as she was barred from doing so thanks to the settlement she had signed in 2006.
Andrea Constand took to the witness stand in Montgomery County Courthouse in Pennsylvania on Tuesday (06Jun17), the second day of Cosby's trial, to share her recollections of the night the now-disgraced comedian is said to have drugged and sexually assaulted her at his home.
Cosby, 79, has entered a plea of not guilty that he drugged and molested Andrea Constand in 2004 - even though transcripts from a previously private session record Cosby stating that he deliberately gave Constand a powerful sedative with the sole objective of taking sexual advantage of her.
Constand also reportedly said Cosby had made advances at her in the past, having put a hand on her thigh and, on another occasion, tried to undress her before withdrawing when she said "I'm not here for that". Cosby leaned in to listen, whispered to his lawyer and shook his head.
She says she felt "frozen" during the whole ordeal, and that she kept trying to move her arms and legs to "fight him away", but she couldn't.
"I said I trust you", she recalled saying at the time.
Agrusa noted that Constand and Cosby exchanged numerous gifts, and that the comedian gave her cashmere sweaters, perfume and a $225 hair dryer.
Agrusa displayed Constand's phone records to jurors, pointing out that she made multiple calls on the night of March 16. "And it was sometime between 4 and 5 [a.m.] and I needed to get home because I had to go to work". Only in Constand's case has Cosby been charged. "They'll take the edge off". She said she felt his hand in her vagina and he placed her hand on his penis. She said that when she awoke, her breast was exposed, and a naked Cosby forced her to sexually gratify him with her hand.
Constand lost consciousness after Cosby helped her to the couch and provided a pillow for support, she said.
Ms Constand acknowledged that she had maintained contact but said that she felt obligated to do so because of her job. To hear her talk about something I never heard her talk about, to see her cry, was really hard for me. In the deposition, Cosby confessed to obtaining strong sedatives to hand out to females he wanted to have sex with, although he insisted he didn't use them when he is alleged to have assaulted Constand. "No, ma'am, those calls were because Warren Chambers had asked me to deliver salt products to Mr. Cosby and his wife", Constand explained.
Constand said she wasn't sure. Their questioning will continue on Wednesday.
Los Angeles lawyer Angela Agrusa has spent a painstaking hour going over Andrea Constand's old phone records.
Cosby followed up with a phone call with questions about the team and slowly, she testified in court Tuesday, he became her mentor and her friend.
The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are sexual-assault victims unless they grant permission, which Constand has done.
