Ronaldo shines for Portugal, while Lloris dims French hopes

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to put the entire world on notice after netting a brace for Portugal on Friday in their 3-0 win over Latvia.

Elsewhere, The Netherlands thrashed Luxembourg 5-0 to keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the World Cup with goals from Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Georginho Wijnaldum, Quincy Promes and a late penalty from Vincent Janssen.

People can watch and enjoy the UEFA World Cup Qualification match live on TV Channels such as ESPN Deportes (U.S. - Spanish); Sportsnet One (Canada); Sky Sports 5/HD (U.K.); LTV7 (Latvia); RTP 1 (Portugal).

Fresh off his heroics in the Champions League with Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo was decisive yet again with two goals and an assist for Fernando Santos' side who travel to Russian Federation for the Fifa Confederations Cup from June 17 to July 2. The Southwestern European team has been outscored 13-1 in these qualifiers and its only point came in its last game against the Faroe Islands.

For Hungary, it was one of their most embarrassing results and effectively ended their hopes of reaching next year's World Cup finals in Russian Federation. Andre Gomes sent in a cross from the left for centre-back Jose Fonte, but as the defenders thumping header hit the bar, Ronaldo was on hand to score a diving header.

The Hungarian team lost three of their last matches, and never scored in them: Sweden 0: 2, Portugal 0: 3 and Russian Federation 0: 3.

It was 3-0 four minutes as Ronaldo turned provider to pick out Andre Silva, who calmly slotted home for his seventh global goal in eight caps.

It adds to what has already been a remarkable campaign for the former Manchester United man, who has now netted 53 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions this term, while setting Portugal up perfectly for their maiden appearance in the Confederations Cup. The other had come in a 2-1 home loss to Switzerland.
