Despite the divisive reactions that both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad received previous year, Wonder Woman has become one of the highest-rated superhero films of all time, hopefully marking a turning point in critical reception for the DC Extended Universe.
"Wonder Woman" is off to a good start at the box office.
At first, Star Trek Beyond's Chris Pine had no interest in a role on Wonder Woman, but a meeting with Director Patty Jenkins changed his mind and he made a decision to take on the role of Steve Trevor.
For the most part, women have played only secondary characters or love interests during the recent superhero boom and DC/ Warner Bros. were really taking a risk in breaking the mold.
A petition titled "Release Wonder Woman in Lebanon" released a day after the ban argued that movie buffs in the country should be given to opportunity to enjoy the awesome character of Wonder Woman. The film has its failings - it falls into a few bland narrative stretches, fumbles over its cardboard villains, and ends with the usual tiresome clash of titans - but the very existence of "Wonder Woman" makes a much-needed feminist statement in the crowded superhero space. I also wanted her blessing and I wanted her to know we're not here to do the "new" Wonder Woman. However, that should not deter you from enjoying the great action film that is "Wonder Woman". "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", meanwhile, tallied a $27.7 Thursday night.
Patty Jenkins' movie, which stars Gal Gadot, earned P48.39 million on its first day in cinemas, June 1. And we're really happy about that!
"It's definitely something I'm very, very, very interested in". "W.O.W. It is a superhero movie like none I have ever seen".
Or maybe Wonder Woman 2 is still completely in flux.
Earlier we reported that the studio estimated her to make the $100 million mark which in just this week alone she looks to be coming close to, eyeing a $86 million which looks to be the largest weekend net for a film directed by a woman. Let us know in the comments!
