The sleek Moto Z2 Play, new Moto Mods officially launched in India

It is called the Moto Z2 Play and will be available from 15 June at Flipkart.com as well as at offline stores at Rs27,999. There are also pre-booking offers on the smartphone which were not available when the Moto Z Play was launched. Motorola's new Mods include - JBL SoundBoost 2, Moto TurboPower pack, Moto Gamepad, and Moto Style Shell with wireless charging.

A metal unibody design is what you can see on the Z2 Play and along with that, a Moto Z series user might notice that there is no big difference in the size and thickness. The modular phone is already making some noise with reports saying it will have support for the Moto Mods. Talking about its software front, the device runs on Google's Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out of the box.

The Moto Z2 Play features a 12-megapixel rear camera, down from 16-megapixel on the Moto Z Play.

It comes in two variants, ie one with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and the other a 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Expect to hear more about Motorola's 2017 phones soon.

The Moto Z2 Play features a 12-megapixel rear camera with 1.4-micron pixels, f/1.7 aperture, dual LED flash and laser and dual autofocus lens.

The smartphone retains the same 5.5-inch 1080p display from the Moto. On the front the Moto Z2 Play has a 5MP wide angle camera. It is compatible with all the earlier released Mods as well some new Mods which Motorola has announced today. The front camera is a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens, coupled with Dual CCT flash for bright selfies. The front fingerprint reader not only unlocks the phone but can also be used to navigate menus when you do not want to use the on screen navigation icons. While the price of these two smartphones are not known now, both these smartphones are expected to be priced in the same range.

There is also a rumour that the Moto Z2 Turbo will be gaining back the headphone jack it lost previous year so we expect the Moto Z2 to do the same (one would hope so anyway). In comparison, the rear camera on the Moto Z Play has ƒ/2.0 aperture, PDAF and auto-focus support. This offer will continue even after the pre-booking period is over. Notably, the GeekBench 4 scores of Moto Z2 are at par with the Samsung Galaxy S8, as per the report. Besides that, Motorola is also offering 100GB of additional 4G data on JIO.

With Moto G5 Plus and Moto Z2 (not announced yet) on either side, Moto Z2 Play faces the hardest competition from other OEMs. There are some notable changes in the Moto Z2 Play, compared to the Moto Z Play.
