Reaction to Manchester United's emotional Europa triumph

Fresh from his Europa Cup win, Manchester Utd manager Jose Mourinho is in Monaco to watch F1 and reveals he doesn't care about football on his time off.

Ferguson paid tribute to the victims and thinks his former side's 2-0 victory over Ajax in the final of the Europa League may have boosted morale in Manchester.

And despite many suggesting that he would come on and torment the opposition - it never happened.

"It doesn't matter if it's Champions League or not, Ed Woodward (the United executive vice-chairman) has my analysed (targets)".

"We knew where they were better than us, we knew where we were better than them, we tried to kill their good qualities and exploit their weaknesses".

"Now it's up to him and the owners", Mourinho said. "Then with Jose I've had a bigger role, I've been able to play a little more and I've been able to show I'm a goalkeeper that can play for this club".

"So I think the season was really good". A younger me would have been a lot more frustrated.

Jesse Lingard admits that United failed to achieve their primary objectives of winning the Premier League and reaching the top four this season but reckons the squad has learned the lessons needed to help them push for the title next year.

Coach Jose Mourinho shares his feelings after hard last 48 hours. We were not strong enough to win the Premier League but we were strong enough to win the Europa League and we are back in the Champions League. If you are dominant in the air you go long.

"It means for the club the last piece of the puzzle, it is now like Ajax is and some other clubs - a club with every trophy in the world of football". "We had to focus, it was very important".

"He knows since March who I want, what I want and how much I want".

Goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan secured United's first continental trophy in nine years, ensuring Champions League football returns to Old Trafford.
