Defensive tackle Nick Fairley has a serious heart condition, one that could jeopardize her career. "The potential bad news is you don't play football again".
"He's picked things up well", Saints head coach Sean Payton said after Peterson's initial OTA workouts.
Defensive end Darryl Tapp played with Fairley in Detroit in 2014 and noted Fairley became a father a year ago while saying that Fairley's health is "the most important thing" right now. "To play this game, there's a little bit of mental toughness involved, obviously.
He's had one in Houston, and I know he had a third now as recently as yesterday or the day before", Payton said. And I want to make sure if, in fact, he's playing it again, that he's playing with full confidence that he's healthy to play and that nothing severe would come of him playing.
Payton seems to be more concerned with Fairley's life outside football than with his future with the team.
Payton said that over the years, the initial diagnosis that Fairley was issued at the Combine has changed.
Payton said he hopes Fairley, who has been absent during recent voluntary offseason practices, can return to the Saints.
The one report or examination indicated some change that was concerning. According to Payton, the Saints were aware of Fairley's condition before he signed his new contract.
"I'd be lying to you say it doesn't give you a chip [on your shoulder]". "Last year I sat next to him in meetings".
It's worth remembering that Peterson has played only 20 of a possible 48 games over the past three seasons, missing most of previous year with injury and most of 2014 because of suspension.
Following the terrorist attack in Manchester, England, outside an Ariana Grande concert, a few Saints players said they were thinking about the safety of their upcoming trip overseas, though the same guys said they trust to National Football League to take necessary security measures. "That's something I'm looking forward to".
