John Gillispie: 'Wonder Woman' does justice to essence of character

Prominent US entertainment voices have suggested record-breaking release Wonder Woman could be in the running for Oscar nominations, prompting talk the female-centric production may be the superhero movie to finally earn a major accolade from the Academy.

I know some folks still get uncomfortable when these types of conversations come up, and that's fine.

Which makes the news that Gal filmed most of the film while pregnant all the more surprising. I think it is an awesome scene and made me smile when I watched the movie.

Sources speaking to theHollywood Reporter say WB chose to wait and see how opening weekend went before deciding to negotiate with Jenkins, and that the studio intends to begin talks soon.

"Now we have Wonder Woman - she's fearless, proactive, she believes in herself and she believes she can do everything".

Both Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as spy Steve Trevor are good in their roles, and the romance between their characters is believable and allowed to go past the stage of mutual admiration.

She said: "I was pregnant and showing for some of the additional scenes we shot but they did some clever stuff with special effects to hide my bump".

Gal Gadot, who portrays "Wonder Woman" in DCEU ( DC Extended Universe), is contracted for the sequel as part of her overall deal to appear in several DC movies, while Jenkins was enlisted by WB executives for just one movie. "She showed naivete. I really think this was a movie more about her understanding what was outside in the world". So when I started to really hunker in on the significance of No Man's Land, there were a couple people who were deeply confused, wondering, like, "Well, what is she going to do?" Vasquez said. "If I had been young and had a character like this in a film. It's time", she said.

"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for making this weekend the most wonderful weekend - and craziest weekend I've ever had in my life. From that female woman perspective, it just blew my mind".
