Bubsy Gets His First Game In Over 21 Years

First off, developer Accolade ceased being an independent studio back in 1999.

Called Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back, the internet has decided that the return of a middling platformer starring a bobcat from the 16-bit era is another case of nostalgia gone bad, or one step too far.

Developed by Black Forest Games, creators of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, the game will feature "a bevy of exotic locations" and make players face "a battalion of Woolies, sharks, and bees, not to mention the gnarliest UFO to ever grace a Bubsy adventure." . He had two solid platforming games under his belt in 1993 and 1994, that were cooler than pogs. US firm Tommo Inc. seems to have acquired a lot of them, and itself rereleased (under its Retorism brand) the first two Bubsy games on Steam in 2015 as a two-pack (or rather, a Two-Fur).

The last Bubsy game, Bubsy 3D, was released in 1996 and is less than beloved and Accolade shuttered in 2000.

I was happily making my movies when a hungry director slipped a copy of the script for Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back under my door.

Accolade have stated that "Accolade returns with classic all new, reimagined games from its vast catalog and brand new franchises that will thrill anyone from nine to 90 that calls themselves a gamer", the publisher said in its Bubsy announcement.

Out of absolutely nowhere, It's been announced that Bubsy will get a brand new title after nearly 20 years out of the gaming industry. Well, let's assume you do remember Bubsy so that this segue to the trailer for a new Bubsy game isn't a complete wash.
