They will now play Venezuela in Sunday's final, and I think we should all just bask in the fact that England are in a World Cup Final, not a sentence that you hear being uttered in footballing circles too often.
The shot went straight through the hands of Zaccagno for Solanke's fourth goal of the competition, earning England their first World Cup final in 51 years.
England finished top of their group, which included a thumping 3-0 win over six-time champions Argentina.
After all, how often can you say you've seen England play in the final of a football tournament?
Before arriving at Anfield, Solanke will hope to experience success on worldwide duty after helping to guide England into the final of the U20's World Cup.
Indeed, Solanke was Johnny-on-the-spot to volley home into an unguarded net when Italian 'keeper Andrea Zaccagno came flapping at Sheyi Ojo's cross.
England goalkeeper Jack Butland: "Great work by the England U20s, keep up the momentum and bring it home". That early strike after two minutes had many people thinking that all this talk about this being an England team to watch was a load more hot air.
Former England full-back Phil Neville: "Some bloody good young players in this England U20 team".
The South Londoner, who was still playing Sunday League football as recently as 2014, joined Everton from Charlton in an £11m deal in January and promptly scored minutes into his debut against Manchester City. It was the latter - on as a substitute - who saw his cross eventually fall to the feet of the striker to equalise from inside the area.
"It's an unbelievable performance from the boys, we're into the World Cup Final and we're all over the moon", said Calvert-Lewin, who led the line alongside goalscorer Solanke and his Goodison Park team-mate Lookman.
