MacBook 2017 vs MacBook 2016: what's changed?

The tech giant also announced the most powerful Mac ever, the iMac Pro.

The now "normal" line of iMacs received a range of expected feature updates, including USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 support, and new discrete GPU options from AMD.

The new entry-level Retina iMac comes with 1TB of 5400rpm hard disk, but by spending an extra Rs. 17,000 i.e. Rs. 1,24,900 you can get a 1TB Fusion Drive - Apple's flash storage + HDD hybrid - and a faster processor, as well as a better graphics card.

Radeon Pro 500 cards are available in the updated Apple iMac devices and feature support for 4K and 5K displays.

The 21.5-inch iMac will start at $1,100 and the 4K 21.5-inch model will be available at $1,300. The MacBook too has received Kaby Lake processors, 50 percent faster SSDs, and the same keyboard that shipped in the MacBook Pros a year ago.

This is also the first 12-inch Retina MacBook to feature an Intel Core i5 processor (in a way). With the revolutionary Touch Bar™ with Touch ID®, gorgeous 500-nit Retina display, Thunderbolt 3 and incredible performance in a portable design, MacBook Pro is the best pro notebook Apple has ever made. We're also increasing CPU and SSD speed on MacBook, adding faster processors and making faster graphics standard on our 15-inch MacBook Pro and introducing a new US$1,299 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The Radeon Pro 580, coupled with software and API improvements coming as part of the next version of macOS, "High Sierra" (no, seriously), was specifically called out as being ready to power a new era of VR experiences and content creation on the Mac, thanks to Apple partnerships with Valve (Steam VR), Unity, and Epic (Unreal Engine 4). The 13-inch MacBook Pro TouchBar models are cheaper by Rs. 1,000 each at Rs. 1,54,900 and Rs. 1,71,900 respectively for the 256GB and 512GB SSD storage variants. Apple expect the new Mac Pro to ship in December. The Apple iMac Pro 2017 will be coming out this December and the price starts at 4.999 USA dollars.

iMac & iMac Pro computers now have improved Mac Retina displays, more memory, and more powerful graphics.

If you're looking exclusively for a machine to run your new HTC Vive, the iMac Pro may not be the best place to play.

- Every customer who buys Mac from Apple will be offered free Personal Setup, in-store or online**, to help them set up email, show them how to install apps and more.

Apple also spent quite a bit of time during their WWDC presentation promoting Metal 2. The new iPad Pro that's available in the USA today offers a new customizable dock for your apps that blurs the line with this common 0macOS feature. The iMac Pro will start at $5,000 in the US; UK pricing hasn't been announced, but it'll likely be around £4,900 to £5,100.

Apple iMacs are getting a worthwhile refresh with brighter screens and bumped specifications across the board including faster processors and graphics.
