Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Updates iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro

Apple has announced a new smart speaker device at its Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, as well as a new super-powerful iMac and iterative updates to its desktop, laptop and tablet computers.

The dark grey computer sports a 27-inch, 5K display and will start at $US4999 ($6676) in the US.

The 21.5-inch model can be configured up to 32GB of RAM, while the 27-inch can get up to 64 GB of RAM. SSD storage options are now up to 50 percent faster, and iMac comes with Thunderbolt 3, the most powerful and versatile port ever. The new iMac Pro is considered to be even more powerful than the current Mac Pro.

Powered by Intel Xeon processors which can be configured from 8-cores all the way up to 18-cores you can certainly get a beastly machine here. Weighing just two pounds and measuring 13.1mm thin, MacBook is the thinnest and lightest notebook for all-day, on-the-go computing. The MacBook Pro is roughly as heavy as the 13-inch MacBook Air, but it's still more expensive.

"With the revolutionary Touch Bar with Touch ID, gorgeous 500-nit Retina display, Thunderbolt 3 and incredible performance in a portable design, MacBook Pro is the best pro notebook Apple has ever made", the tech giant said.

'It is incredibly satisfying to see the capabilities of Radeon Pro 500 series in elegant form factors and enabling awesome content creation, gaming and VR experiences, ' crowed Raja Koduri, senior vice president and chief architect of the Radeon Technologies Group at AMD.

This completely makes sense from a branding point of view, because Apple want to keep each price tier distinct from one another and maintain the iMac Pro and its accessories as premium products, but it's still a huge bummer for anyone who prefers the black colour over the classic white. "This will be our fastest and most powerful Mac ever, which brings workstation-class computing to iMac for the first time", said John Ternus, Apple's vice president of Hardware Engineering.

The company also offered a price drop, with the lowest level 4K iMac available starting at $1299. The iMac Pro design doesn't deviate much from the iMac but does look sexier in a Space Grey color.
