"Wonder Woman" soars on Rotten Tomatoes

Wonder Woman was directed by Patty Jenkins, who previously made Monster, a biopic of serial killer Aileen Wuornos starring Charlize Theron. After that she directed few episodes of Arrested Development and Entourage.

Over the weekend, the highly anticipated 2017 reboot of Wonder Woman raked in a whopping $100.5 million, easily becoming the highest grossing domestic opening for a female director in film history.

For now, we can all bask in the glory that was Wonder Woman, as the DCEU finally finds its footing.

Wonder Woman just became the biggest box office opening for a female director EVER, which means a sequel is a go! As it shows - she swims quite well.

The box office reporting site revealed on Sunday its estimations for the film's first-weekend profits, pegging the domestic total at just more than $100.5 million and the worldwide total around $122.5 million.

According to the interview, she was pregnant enough that the costume department had to sheathe her belly in a green screen and edit it out. "On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman", Gadot said. "What you saw is exactly the movie that we were always making", she explained. Leading the box office, it's also the largest opening weekend for a female director of all time, besting Fifty Shades of Grey by a healthy margin. It soared far above the other box office hits which include "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales". Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. Wonder Woman added $122.5 million USA internationally, including $38 million U.S. in China.

Lynda Carter, who starred as Wonder Woman in the 1975 film, congratulated Jenkins, Gadot and co-star Chris Pine on Twitter.
