United's Morata Bid Rejected

Manchester United have got their summer transfer negotiations up and running by making their move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain are claiming that Morata has chose to join United this summer because of Jose Mourinho's influence but the move depends on whether a transfer fee can be agreed with Madrid.

Spain global Morata has been linked with a move away from the Champions League winners after failing to establish himself in Zinedine Zidane's first team.

Morata is due to marry Italian girlfriend Alice Campello in Venice later in June and she is known to favour a return to her homeland over a move to England, where Chelsea are interested in the Spain striker.

Do you think Morata would be a better option than Lukaku for United?

United saw a £52.4m bid for the player rejected on Tuesday night, with Real understood to want closer to £78m.

Manchester United are also keen, and with so much interest, it means Real will be able to hold out for asking price.

Morata spent two years in Italy playing for Juventus, before being brought back to Madrid last summer for a fee of £24m. Permanence at Real Madrid?

Moreover, after the match ended, Morata denied claims he's moving to AC Milan - in fact he denied he's moving to Italy - which has increased the chances he joins the Red Devils instead.

The attacker netted 15 times in 26 La Liga matches to help Madrid win the league and he appeared off the bench during the Champions League triumph over Juventus on Saturday.

Morata, 24, scored 20 goals in all competitions for Zinedine Zidane's side last season. However, this deal could come to fruition if Morata does leave in the summer with Werner a more than suitable replacement for the Spaniard.
