Saudi Arabia, Qatar's sole land border, cut off all land, sea and air links to the country, while the nearby UAE has ceased providing Qatari flights and shipping.
Disruption to airspace in the Gulf began on Tuesday morning local time. Doha, Qatar's capital, is a major hub for worldwide flight connections.
"This ruling applies to all airlines flying into the UAE, including Etihad Airways", the Abu Dhabi-based airline said.
The impact is staggering - Qatar Airways flew 25 flights a day to the UAE and 20 to Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, Qatar Airways flies to nine cities.
Fellow Gulf states are also reported to have been angered by a huge ransom paid by Doha earlier this year to secure the release of a hunting party, which included members of the Qatari royal family, kidnapped in southern Iraq. Qatar "believes such differences between sister countries must be resolved through dialogue".
Legal analyst and media critic Lionel told RT that the latest CNN report follows a well-established tactic - where the report starts off with "US sources say" without ever naming the persons behind the allegations, or even clearly explaining what the Russians are being accused of this time.
