KTLA reported that Clark has a violent past, which includes her being released from state custody in 2010 after stabbing her son and pushing her daughter out of a moving vehicle in 2005. The arrest stemmed from an incident that was reported about 9:10 a.m. Monday, when a "hysterical" 911 caller said her mother had stabbed her and the caller's two young children in the 1400 block of Santo Antonio Drive, police said.
Neighbor Patty Williams told The Press-Enterprise that the wounded woman had been "stabbed everywhere".
Sheriff's Dispatch said the fire was "possibly related to that 187 suspect from Colten, we have a black female setting the building on fire", scanner recordings stated.
Police initially said the child who died was 6 months old, but corrected that information Monday evening to say she was 18 months.
Clark was convicted in the attempted murder of two family members back in 2006, Colton police confirmed.
County sheriff's deputies found Nicole Darrington-Clark, 43, sleeping in her auto about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday morning at Waterman Avenue and Ninth Street in San Bernardino, the Colton Police Department said.
It wasn't immediately clear when or why she was released from the mental hospital and whether the daughter in the 2005 attack is the same one found critically injured Monday in Colton.
Court documents show a California woman suspected of fatally stabbing her 18-month-old granddaughter had spent almost a decade in a state psychiatric hospital and outpatient treatment program before a jury ruled in 2015 that her sanity had been restored. Neither child was seriously injured. "It's still too early in the investigation, we're not too sure what she's been doing since she's been on the run since yesterday morning", said police Cpl. "We don't know. We're just asking God to just keep her safe".
Investigators don't know what the motive may have been for the stabbing, which took place just after 9 a.m.
Another neighbor, Tim Hill, said she ran into his apartment seeking help after the attack.
When officers arrived, they found the youngest grandchild dead, while the daughter and the other granddaughter were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Williams said Darrington-Clark didn't live at the complex. Colton, Calif., police investigate the scene where a 6-month-old baby was killed and her sister and mother were hospitalized in critical condition after a stabbing attack at their apartment in Colton Mo. "I feel like my soul left my body because this is disgusting".
Authorities believe that Darrington Clark is driving a black, four-door Hyundai Sonata with the license plate number 7TQL009.
LaShunda Clark says her sister Nicole Darrington-Clark had gone Monday to visit her adult daughter and granddaughters at their home in Colton. He sent her to a state mental hospital for 34 years to life, with progress reports required every six months.
"I Facetimed with her a few days ago, and I was anxious about her", the friend, Cindy O'Neal, said.
