Shopian (Jammu and Kashmir),[India] June 6 (ANI): A civilian was killed amid clashes which broke out between protesters and security forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir today.
When security forces were busy laying a cordon, a huge number of people took to the streets and started protesting against them.
In the clash, a student identified as Adil Farooq died and 10 other civilians were injured, the official said.
Details reaching here said that the troops from 44-RR, CRPF and police cordoned off the village that triggered instant reaction.
During clashes, the counter-insurgency grid opened fire in which five persons were reported injured.
A health official said that Adil was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Medical Superintendent of district hospital Shopian, Dr Nazir Ahmed confirmed the death.
There were reports of two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including a commander, hiding in the area.
