Carroll says Kaepernick a starter, just not with Seahawks

Inspired by Kaepernick, the Seahawks were pretty much the only franchise to commit to and carry out a team-wide National Anthem demonstration throughout the entire 2016 season.
New York Giants co-owner John Mara said as much when he told The MMQB last month that Giants fans made it clear to him that Kaepernick who the Giants were not pursuing would not be welcome at the Meadowlands. KnowYourRightsCamp is "a free campaign for youth funded by Kaepernick to raise awareness on self-empowerment & interacting with law enforcement", according to the profile's bio.
Was Kaepernick's "starter" role an easy way for the Seahawks to pass on the 29-year-old.
Yet it remains curious a quarterback four years and four months removed from starting and just missing winning a Super Bowl, who came a tipped pass by Sherman in the end zone in Seattle from starting a second Super Bowl, who threw 16 touchdown passes against just four interceptions for an absolutely bad 49ers team last season, has not signed a contract to at least be a backup for anyone in 2017. "Right now you have a lot of young guys that are looking for opportunities", Baldwin said Tuesday as Seattle continued its second week of OTAs.
Does Baldwin feel Kaepernick is still unsigned because he's being blackballed by National Football League teams for his protests and social activism? "He has just been such a stellar part of what we're doing, and he put the numbers up week in and week out, and he has been a great leader for us". "Nobody has played better football anywhere that I have seen in this league".
Carroll also addressed a tumultuous off-season that's been largely centred on cornerback Richard Sherman.
"I can't say that it doesn't [factor in] completely", Baldwin said.
- Pete Prisco (@PriscoCBS) June 6, 2017Carroll and Kaepernick have both said money wasn't an issue but I know that won't deter you here. "He's a starter in this league". "But I think that's really minor".
"No, I think it's just a nature of the business", Baldwin said of trade discussions.
Carroll won't have to deal with that possibility after signing Davis and having second-year quarterback Trevone Boykin as the backups. Sometimes it looks like there's a divide. For him to battle his way [back], he gained a lot of respect in our locker room. But I think that's why we've been so successful. Landry Jones is fine - and I am sure Boykin is serviceable - but wouldn't those teams rather a Patriots situation where losing Tom Brady means Jimmy Garoppolo like production? However, if reports are to be believed, Wilson is a polarizing figure and doesn't have the full support of teammates in the locker room. A Wilson injury will be brought into bigger focus since they passed on a quarterback who is at least saying he doesn't mind being a backup. Russell Wilson was very good from the start, but he didn't get great until year four.
"Kap's dad here. Pete, you are so far from the truth it makes me sick".
