Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday assured of action against officials and school teachers after completion of the probe in the Class 12 topper scam. "The state will focus on checking question paper leak and also keep a close eye on the evaluation process". "We do not believe in casting a veil on the shortcomings", said Kumar in an apparent reference to criticism by BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on the issue.

Meanwhile, the "Arts topper" Ganesh Kumar, who was found to be of 42 years and not 24 years was on Monday taken on remand by the Patna police for further interrogation. Last year, there were large-scale irregularities in intermediate exams.

In an interview to a TV news channel, Kumar said singer Lata Mangeshkar is known as Maithili Kokila, a title bestowed on folk singer Sharda Sinha, who is from Samastipur, where his school is situated.

The saffron party said that the Chief Minister can not refute his responsibilities.

Also, the result of Class 12 topper in the Arts stream Ganesh Kumar was cancelled for committing forgery among other charges. "Attempts are always made to tarnish image of Bihar by none other than the natives". We have to conduct the exams more effectively in the future.

Nitish Kumar said that some people have been indulging in acts that is damaging Bihar's image. The Chief Minister can not refute his responsibilities.

Kumar said he has directed officials concerned to prepare an "action plan" for improving school infrastructure and also teachers and education department officials will be held accountable for non-performance of any school.

Yesterday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said at a press conference, "Not the outsiders, but people of Bihar play main role in ruining the image of the state".

Humanities topper Ganesh Kumar was arrested by the state police last week after the Board officials filed a police complaint against Kumar that he submitted fake documents to appear in the Class 12th exams.
