Apple's iMac Pro Is An Intel Xeon And AMD Vega Graphics Powerhouse

John Ternus, Apple's Vice President of Hardware Engineering, announced the latest generation of iMac models with prices starting at $1,099 for the 21.5-inch iMac, 21.5-inch iMac Retina 4K at $1,099, while iMac Retina 5K 27-inch starts at $1,799. The company also kept its promise for an iMac Pro, unveiling the most powerful Mac ever released - stuffed inside a space gray iMac enclosure.

U.S. chipmaker AMD on Tuesday unveiled a high performance, power-efficient "Radeon Pro 500" series graphics for Apple iMac.

The real star of the new iMac lineup is a beast of an all-in-one that won't be available until December. Ternus also confirmed that the entire lineup will ship with Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors.

State of the art Radeon Pro 500 Series Graphics are built on the cutting edge "Polaris" architecture with future-ready display technology.

The updated iMac features Kaby Lake processors up to 4.2GHz with Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz and supports up to twice the memory as the previous generation.

"Today iMac gets a massive graphics production increase, faster CPU production, Thunderbolt 3 and a brighter Retina display along with support for 1 billion colors", said Ternus. This year, the company has made a decision to launch some new-fangled devices along with the update to iOS, dubbed as iOS 11.

The new graphics enables extraordinary computing experiences, gaming and immersive virtual reality (VR) on select models. They changed the performance into the lovely, quiet iMac enclosure.

To handle all of that, users will be able to order the iMac Pro with as much as 128 GB of memory, and an all-flash storage drive of up to 4 TB to help content creators manipulate and store large 4K and HD projects.

The Cupertino-based giant has also introduced a new 13-inch MacBook Pro model at a starting $1299 in the US.

Radeon Pro 500 series graphics harness up to 5.5 TFLOPS of performance, unleashing the creativity of artists, designers, photographers, filmmakers, visualizers and engineers, and aspiring creative types across high-resolution canvases in the most popular creative applications, powering through the most demanding games, and bringing fantastic worlds to life in VR.
