The Fatal 5-Way involved Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt. Even so, the long match made for a solid opening to the show. Instead, he appeared to be on the verge of losing to Rollins again and ended up winning the match only because of a Wyatt video flash distraction.
As it was derailed by Braun's injury, they were originally building towards Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt.
Samoa Joe is the new number one contender for the WWE Universal Championship. The question, though, was about building drama up until Great Balls of Fire. It was a reversal of most cage matches, where the faces go over the top, and the heels go through the door, however after Jeff went off the top, it was logical.
Following their defeat at Extreme Rules, their first since returning to the company, the WWE Universe will get to see whether the veteran tag-team have what it takes to regroup and work to reclaim their gold, just as Sheamus and Cesaro did.
At WWE Payback, The Hardy Boyz defeated Sheamus and Cesaro. And there's not one good reason why we shouldn't believe that, too. Neville finally granted TJP a title match on 205 Live afterwards, beating him up on the ramp. I was surprised to see Neville retaining the Cruiserweight Title, but at least it was a clean win.
"I think it's time we unleash the beast", said Heyman.
Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. The Hardy Boyz owes a rematch and as per updates from WWE.com, that should take place, tonight. It may not have been an "extreme" style match, but it had a lot of drama. As Ambrose pleaded with the ref not to end the match, The Miz was able to hit a Skull Crushing Finale for the win.
Alicia Fox and Noam Dar try to keep their cool ahead of their Mixed Tag Team Match against Sasha Banks and Rich Swann at WWE Extreme Rules, streaming live on WWE Network. Bliss had earlier approached Mickie James and Dana Brooke to help her out in the match, which both declined.
The match was packed full of stunts, including a double spear by Reigns on Joe and Balor, and a frog-splash from Rollins onto the announce table.
