Wonder Woman Gal Gadot challenges Thor for fight

Wonder Woman has broken the U.S. box office record held by a female director, making £173 million globally in its opening weekend.

The previous USA opening weekend record for a female-directed film was the $85 million (£66 million) taken by Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades Of Grey in 2015. Director Patty Jenkins has taken that title from Sam Taylor-Johnson who directed 2015's Fifty Shades of Grey.

Speaking to Deadline, Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros' domestic distribution boss, said, "This movie resonated globally".

Many, in fact, kept a keen eye on the movie's box office returns well before they were reported.

Wonder Womanwas a box office smash on its opening weekend, raking in more than $100 million domestically - a new record for a movie directed by a woman. According to the numbers provided to IANS by the production banner behind Baywatch, the film released in India on Friday in 948 screens, and its gross box office figure is Rs 10.1 crore. Technically, she already has come to America with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but I get what Jenkins is saying.
