- A new 10.5-inch iPad Pro is now available to order in New Zealand with prices starting at $1099 for the 64GB model.
Apple is pushing the Mac as a machine that's made for virtual reality, with new hardware and software updates built for VR.
Apple's other PCs are all getting speed and performance updates. iMacs are getting across-the-board speed improvements and more storage. If you look closely, though, the only storage configuration that matches is the 256 GB size, and the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro is actually $50 cheaper there.
"With major updates to iMac, and a refresh of our MacBook and MacBook Pro lines, the Mac is stronger than ever", said John Ternus, Apple's vice president of Hardware Engineering.
The 27-inch iMac gets a serious boost indeed, and can now be specced with up to 8GB of VRAM, providing 5.5 teraflops of processing power, ideal for VR content creation.
Prefaced with Apple's patented "One more thing!" introduction, Tim Cook and Phil Schiller announced a new speaker created to reinvent the way we listen to music at home. What will you get in return?
The redesigned Retina display in iPad Pro features ProMotion, a new technology that delivers refresh rates of up to 120Hz for fluid scrolling, greater responsiveness and smoother motion content. Though it will set you back £2,249.
The update will also include a new "Do Not Disturb" feature that senses when someone is driving and automatically turns off the phone.
Fast forward a year later and it looks as though Apple has a real interest in attracting gamers, though to what extent remains to be seen. As a result of this increased graphical fidelity, the higher-end iMacs will also be able to support VR experiences. The company is also adding a cheaper $1,300 MacBook Pro option.
With thin and light designs, powerful performance, unbelievable displays and all-day battery life, Mac notebooks is said to deliver the world's best portable computing experience.1 MacBook now features faster Kaby Lake processors up to 1.3 GHz Core i7 with Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz and up to 50% faster SSD, and supports up to twice the memory. A kaleidoscope face shows trippy animations, and new Toy Story character watch faces let Woody tell you the time. It will reportedly include the highly upgraded MacBook Pro, as well as the 12-inch MacBook that will replace the MacBook Air this year.
