The film will be helmed by ad-filmmaker Shrikumar Menon, and it will be made as a two-part project.
If the project turns out a success, "Mahabharatham" made at a whooping budget of Rs. 1000 crore would become historical in terms of being the most expensive Indian movie ever made.
Excited team of Mahabharata, is now planning to meet PM Modi personally and they have also got the appointment.
According to a PinkVilla report, Modi has extended his support to the flick and even sent a letter to producer BR Shetty. Apparently, members of Kerala Hindu Aikya Vedi had opposed the release of the film unless its title is changed. To avoid the controversy, Shetty reportedly wrote to the Prime Minister expressing his concerns and PM Modi wrote back assuring him of his complete support. Only a film close to the real story of epic Mahabharata written by Vyasa can carry that name. Hence, they should retain the name Randamoozham for the film version as well.
On the other-side, producer Shetty has announced that the movie will be released as the title "Randamoozham" in Malayalam but in rest of India it will be released as Mahabharata. In His Novel, he wrote entire story of Mahabaratha in bheemas perspective which will be played by malayalam superstar Mohanlal. "I prospered and earned money in Abu Dhabi, so I want this film first to be shot in there before we move to other parts of the world", Shetty told media. It will be produced in two parts and is scheduled to go on the floors by September 2018 for a release in early 2020.
More insights of cast and crew will be announced in 90 days, said shetty.
