LeBron James and Kevin Durant Actually Recorded a Rap Song Together

LeBron James and Kevin Durant are dominating on the court as they try to inch their respective teams closer to obtaining the Larry O'Brien trophy, but what may surprise some is that they used to be brief teammates dominating in the studio.

The song's title and theme are unknown, as are its whereabouts.

This is tremendous. Not only are James and Durant going head-to-head in the NBA Finals, but we're on the cusp of having their never-before-heard single being released to the public. If there's anything that could bring this nation together during these fractured times, it's the Durant-James joint.

The story as reported Monday by Chris Haynes of ESPN.com boils down to this: During the National Basketball Association lockout in 2011, Durant joined James in Akron, Ohio, to work out together as both stars looked to keep their skills sharp and stay in shape. Perhaps winning a world championship will give Durant the courage to stop hiding the collaboration under a bushel. In fact, there reportedly were discussions about having it featured in the 2012 film "Thunderstruck", which Durant starred in.

It certainly sounds like Durant and James, with the two voices going in the order indicated by a source who told Haynes that he "recalls Durant rapping the first verse, James hopping on for the second and then Durant finishing it off".

At the time, LeBron was a 26-year-old star for the Miami Heat and Durant a 23-year-old budding star for the Thunder.

"I heard the track years ago during post-production for Thunderstruck", he said. However, "KD wanted to keep it private", the producer said. However, before the NBA Finals Game 3, Chris Haynes of ESPN revealed that James and Durant were once "teammates".
