Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice launches digitally on August 8 for PS4 and PC. With words by Hellblade creative director Tameem Antoniades and art from multiple Eisner Award nominee Ben Templesmith, the comic comes from a creative collaboration between Ninja Theory and award-winning comic book publisher Valiant Entertainment.
After saying that Hellblade has been in development for three years, Matthews added, "For those new to Hellblade, the game is the story of Senua, a traumatized Celtic warrior journeying into the Viking underworld of Hel". Ninja Theory in the same post also made a decision to release one last trailer before the game's release. As a game based on mythology, that illness factors heavily into the experience as players encounter mystical obstacles and enemies. Hellblade has been all about trying to rejuvenate the space between "indie' and AAA, where games can be creatively rich but still boast AAA quality". We have created the game in collaboration with neuroscientists as well as people who live with psychosis. Matthews says Hellblade is half the size of a traditional AAA game, but at half the price, with the aim being "to bring back the mid-size game".
