Gulf crisis: Qataris stock food in advance fearing shortage of food

Cairo was quick to publicly back the Saudi and Emirati position on the fallout with Qatar, but has already proved to be more cautious in the type of sanctions it is prepared to impose. Trump expressed support for the countries' move to suspend diplomatic ties with Qatar, despite having praised Qatar as a "crucial strategic partner" just a few weeks ago.
In one sign of the impact of the measures, some Saudi Arabian and United Arab Emirates commercial banks were holding off on doing business with Qatari banks, such as letters of credit, because of the diplomatic rift, banking sources told Reuters.
Though Qatar is 1 of the wealthiest countries in the world, it relies heavily on imported food from Saudi Arabia, UAE among other places.
The crisis is the worst to hit Gulf Arab nations since the creation in 1981 of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) grouping Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the U.A.E., Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
The crisis began in late May when Qatar alleged that hackers took over the site of its state-run news agency and published what it called fake comments from its ruling emir about Iran and Israel.
It was a reference to Qatar saying that its state-run news agency and its Twitter account were hacked to publish a fake story claiming the emir, Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, had called Iran a "regional and Islamic power that can not be ignored".
Yildirim said: "We will continue our active stance in order to develop a friendly dialogue that would suit the holy month of Ramadan".
At the Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on May 21 the US president called for greater worldwide isolation of Iran, accusing Tehran of financing terrorism and supporting the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria.
Gargash accused Doha of turning to "money and media and partisanship and extremism" in a series of tweets early Tuesday.
Authorities and telecommunications companies did not provide further details. PIA officials in Qatar have also been directed to contact the Pakistani embassy in Doha. It broadcasts in North America, Europe and Asia, as well as the Middle East and North Africa.
Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said it was monitoring the situation following the diplomatic stand-off among Gulf nations.
Doha now wants to allow Kuwaiti leader Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah the chance to "proceed and communicate with the parties to the crisis and to try to contain the issue", Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said in an interview with the Qatar-based media broadcaster Al-Jazeera.
Saudi Arabia has severed all land, sea and air links with Qatar, and the UAE has closed its airports and harbours to Qatari flights and shipping even as the state says the claims are "unjustified" and 'baseless'.
"We encourage all our partners in the region to reduce tensions and work towards common solutions that enable regional security", he said in a statement.
